Each year, we ask our volunteers to participate in a ‘Volunteer Satisfaction’ survey. In 2017, this is what they told us:

  • 50% of volunteers have been supporting the organisation for 3 years or more
  • 100% of our current volunteers felt the organisation makes good use of their skills and abilities
  • 100% said their volunteering role is challenging, stimulating and rewarding
  • 100% said they feel proud to be a volunteer with Swindon Carers Centre
  • 100% would recommend Swindon Carers Centre as a good place to volunteer

“In all the years I’ve been volunteering, I’ve found it to be a very friendly and caring atmosphere”

“Through volunteering with Swindon Carers Centre, I have been developing new skills, working with a friendly team and feeling that my contribution is valued”

I enjoy volunteering as it’s more like a family than work. The social events that volunteers are invited to are also great”

Mel has been volunteering within the Young Carers Service for over 5 years. In that time, she has taken part in a variety of groups and activities supporting children and young people to take a break from their caring responsibilities.

“I have met some amazing young people, it has been rewarding and enjoyable and I never feel that I am just a volunteer, but part of the team where people listen to your ideas.”

When asked about why she has continued to volunteer for such a long time, Mel said; “It’s the young carers themselves that make it so rewarding. They are funny, clever and really nice people to spend time with.  Being a tiny part of their journey makes volunteering worthwhile.”
