Carers Rights Day is a national day, set aside to raise awareness – making sure that people caring unpaid for a family member, partner or friend understand their rights and are better able to access the help and support they are entitled to.

Swindon Carers Centre is holding an online event focusing on mental health and wellbeing for unpaid carers to mark Carers Rights Day. If you are a carer, there are many organisations in Swindon available to provide advice and support. Please look through this page for further details.

IPSUM, Swindon

IPSUM is a mental health and wellbeing centre supporting Swindon and the surrounding area. IPSUM offers a range of therapeutic interventions including talking therapies, music and art.

The Mental Wealth Academy

The Mental Wealth Academy is available for young people aged 16-25 with mild to moderate mental health and wellbeing challenges that live or are registered with a GP in Bath and North East Somerset (BaNES), Swindon and Wiltshire.

Young people can refer themselves or ask someone else to refer them such as a parent/ carer or someone working with them. Referrals can be made by clicking here.

Swindon and Gloucestershire MIND

Swindon and Gloucestershire MIND offers a variety of 1:1 support, which is delivered through either telephone, video, or face-to-face appointments for anyone who would like mental health and wellbeing support.

Swindon Advocacy Movement (SAM)

Swindon Advocacy Movement (SAM) are a charity who provide independent, free and easily accessible advocacy to those eligible.

Advocacy can help promote the voices of people living in Swindon by enabling them express what it is they want and aspire to. Additionally, advocacy support can assist people in accessing and understanding information about their rights and how to challenge those rights.

Swindon SEND Families Voice

Swindon SEND Families Voice are a non-profit making Community Interest Company formed by parent and carers in January 2018. The team is passionate about ensuring local services meet the needs of Swindon’s children and their families, and that all parents and carers feel supported.

Impact Swindon & Wiltshire Active Recovery Service

IMPACT is a free drug and alcohol service run by Turning Point. This service offers:

  • Assessments and care plans
  • Treatment options
  • Group workshops
  • Turning Point, a digital treatment tool
  • Support for family and partners, including sessions to  to gain support as someone affected by a loved one’s drug and/or alcohol use.

Swindon Trailblazer – Project Me

The Swindon Trailblazer – Project me service provides CBT based therapy to young people aged 5-19 within certain schools.

To find out if the therapy is provided within your child/children’s school and how to access it please email our admin team on SwindonAdmin@barnardos.org.uk

Within the service we also have an outreach team who provide social opportunities such as our online youth club, school holiday programmes and college enrichment sessions. There are lots more projects on offer and to learn more please email the outreach team on OutreachProjectMe@barnardos.org.uk

Everything that is on offer is free and easy to access for residents of Swindon or those who access education within Swindon.

Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust (AWP)

 

AWP provides inpatient and community-based mental health care for people living in Bath and North East Somerset (B&NES), Bristol, North Somerset, South Gloucestershire, Swindon and Wiltshire. They also provide specialist services extending throughout the south west.
