June: Carers Week
There are at least 21,000 unpaid carers in Swindon, who save our town economy £395 million per year. They play a vital role looking after children, parents, partners and friends.
During Carers Week, we hold our annual Walk A Mile fundraising event enabling us to raise vital funds to increase support for unpaid carers in our town.
Carers Week will run from June 7th to June 13th, with our Walk A Mile event held on Saturday June 12th.
This was an action-packed week, with all events held virtually due to the Covid-19 lockdown. Our Walk A Mile event raised over £2,000 for carers in Swindon, thanks to Pebley Beach who matched our fundraising efforts pound for pound up to £1,000.

June: Volunteer Week
1st – 7th June every year.
Swindon Carers Centre celebrates Volunteer Week in various different ways; previous years have included inviting all our volunteers in for a coffee and cake morning, taking them out for a meal or giving them gifts. If you would like to be involved, please visit our Volunteer with Us page.
July: Swindon Carers Centre’s AGM
Swindon Carers Centre invites Board members, staff, volunteers, Carers and members of the public to our Annual General Meeting. Information is given on the past year’s activities, achievements and accounts and plans for the following year are presented and discussed.
November: Carers Rights Day
Carers Rights Day is a national day, which exists to help carers understand their rights so that they can access all avenues of support available. Whether you are new to your caring role, or you have been caring for a while, we would encourage you to get involved.
Swindon Carers Centre held a virtual online event for Carers Rights Day, in-line with Covid-19 restrictions. The event included updates on key topics including: Hospital discharge processes, the Swindon Learning Disability Partnership Board, NHS priorities for carers and Swindon’s Carers Strategy. Carers were also able to submit their questions for a Q&A session with MPs and health and social care leaders.
