March: Young Carers Action Day
Young Carers Action Day is a national day raising awareness of young carers and the incredible contribution they make to their families and local communities.
Our Young Carers Team works with young carers to raise awareness in Swindon and to mark this day every year.
Young Carers Action Day 2024 took place on March 13th with the theme “fair futures for young carers”. Click here to see what we got up to.
June: Carers Week
Carers Week is an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring, highlighting the vital role carers play looking after children, parents, partners and friends. It also helps people who don’t think of themselves as having caring responsibilities to identify as carers and access much-needed support.
During Carers Week, Swindon Carers Centre holds its annual fundraising Walk A Mile event. This event aims to raise awareness and to boost funds, allowing us as a charity to increase support for unpaid carers in Swindon.
In addition, this year we are pleased to announce a new fundraising event titled ‘Walk a Mile a Day in May’. A special event in collaboration with our Walk a Mile campaign, part of Carers Week.

June: Volunteers’ Week
1st – 7th June every year.
Our volunteers are incredibly important and make a huge impact at Swindon Carers Centre. Volunteers’ Week is our chance to say thank you to these people, for all the hours they put in to make a difference.
If you would like to find out about volunteering with us, please visit our Volunteer with Us page.
July: Swindon Carers Centre’s AGM
Our AGM is an important date in our calendar. It’s an opportunity for us to celebrate what we have achieved over the past year, and to bring our supporters up to date by sharing our vision for the future. Staff, volunteers, carers and members of the public are welcome to join our AGM and listen in.
Our next AGM will be held on Wednesday 24th July, 2024.

November: Carers Rights Day
Carers Rights Day is a national day, which exists to help carers understand their rights so that they can access all avenues of support available. Whether you are new to your caring role, or you have been caring for a while, we would encourage you to get involved.
