I feel very grateful to be part of such an incredible organisation
This week is Trustees’ Week, which celebrates the work of trustees all over the UK. Nina Czajkowski (pictured left with fellow Trustee Caroline Moore) has been a Trustee with Swindon Carers Centre since June 2023 and here she talks about the role and what she enjoys about it.
What interested you about the role and the work of Swindon Carers Centre?
To support and contribute to such a worthy, respected charity. I wanted to be part of the charity because of the incredible work and achievements that everyone there does, making a real difference to people’s lives.
What do you do as a Trustee?
As a member of the Board, I act in the charity’s best interests. This includes making decisions about finance, resources, governance and compliance.
Above all I fulfil my role as Trustee with honesty, integrity, loyalty and good faith, ensuring the welfare of the charity and its people are always the forefront of any discussions.
I have recently taken on Lead Trustee for Development and Vice Chair.
How much time do you give?
Typically, each month tends to be around six hours. However, if there is a topic of urgency which needs to be addressed or an area I personally want to contribute to, I would allocate more time and, therefore, my hours will be greater.
What do you enjoy about being a Trustee and how does it make you feel?
For me being a Trustee is extremely rewarding. I work with an incredible board and teams within SCC who never cease to amaze me. I am able to put my professional skills to use, as well as learning new ones.
I feel very grateful to be part of such an incredible organisation and being able to hopefully make a difference, while also continually learning.
Thank you to Nina and all our Trustees for giving their time, expertise and dedication and making a difference to the lives of unpaid carers in Swindon.
