In recognition of Young Carers Action Day 2025, Swindon Carers Centre has proudly collaborated with Light Up Media to produce a powerful short film themed "Give Me A Break," as set by Carers Trust. This poignant film highlights the critical need for rest and respite among young carers, bringing their stories to the forefront and raising awareness about the challenges they face.

Young carers often experience feelings of loneliness and social isolation due to the demanding nature of their caring responsibilities. We strive to address these issues by offering a diverse range of activities and trips designed to provide young carers with much-needed opportunities to step away from their roles and enjoy time for themselves.

Feedback from young carers underscores the positive impact that these activities have on their well-being. One young carer shared, “Attending made me feel happy, happy because the show was funny, and I got to spend time away just for me.” Another echoed, “Just having time to myself and not worrying about my Brother.” Others expressed sentiments like, “I can be myself and not have any worries,” and “Made me feel happy that I spent time being a kid.”

As the pressures of caring can weigh heavily on young individuals, it is vital to provide them with spaces where they can relax, recharge, and simply enjoy their childhood. Swindon Carers Centre is committed to creating an environment that prioritises their mental health and emotional well-being.
