PPE available for unpaid carers looking after someone outside of their own home

Unpaid carers in Swindon who do not live with the person they care for are now eligible to receive free PPE following updated national guidance.

Swindon Carers Centre is working with Swindon Borough Council to ensure unpaid carers receive the PPE they need to keep those they care for and themselves safe.

If you go into the home of someone you don’t live with to provide care or support, you can order PPE through Swindon Borough Council via Swindon Carers Centre. Please call 01793 975318 or email carers@swindoncarers@org.uk (Mondays and Thursdays 9am-3pm). If you call, please leave a message with your name, and contact details.

Please read the following before contacting us to order:

Department of Health and Social Care, guidance for unpaid carers.

Swindon Carers Centre will complete an order form on your behalf, and give advice on how you can collect this. You should also take a look at the following information:

If you live with the person or people you care for, it is not currently recommended that you wear PPE unless advised to do so by a healthcare professional, like a GP or nurse. If you are a young carer, please talk to your family and the person you care for if you are unsure what to do.
