Our support is here to help you navigate the complexities of your caregiving role, while also empowering you to pursue your own goals and aspirations. Our compassionate team takes the time to listen and understand each carer’s unique situation, offering a safe and welcoming space to decompress, share their experiences, and access opportunities for personal growth and enjoyment. 

Our approach involves a clear, supportive process:

    • Register with Our Service: Complete our registration form to begin your journey with us.
    • Parent Carer Assessment: We take the time to understand your needs, priorities, and expectations from our service.
    • Service Offering: Receive a personalised overview of the support available, including signposting to relevant services, benefits advice, respite options and access to external resources.
    • Review: Parent Carers can request a review of their caring role anytime to ensure your support remains relevant
      and effective.
    • Join Our Community: Stay connected with us through newsletters, events, and ongoing access to the Swindon Carers Centre’s network, for as long as you remain a carer or wish to stay involved.

We can answer any questions and give you someone to speak to when you need it most.

1:1 support

We offer more comprehensive support in person or by phone or email, depending on what works best for you.

Bereavement support

We offer compassionate bereavement support to help carers navigate the emotional challenges of losing their cared for while adjusting to life after caring.

External support

If our team cannot support you with your caring needs, we will put you in contact with someone who can.

A parent carer is an individual over 18 providing unpaid care for a child under 18 with additional needs and/or physical disabilities.

How do I register as an unpaid carer?

You can register by contacting us directly through our website.

Why should I register as an unpaid carer?

Registering helps you access support, resources, and opportunities tailored to your role as a carer. It also connects you with others in similar situations and ensures your voice is heard.

What information do I need to provide to register as a carer?

You need to provide basic information about yourself and the person you care for, including personal data, details of their health or care needs and your caring role.

Does the person I care for need to live in Swindon?

Yes, to access Swindon Carers Centre services, the person you care for must reside within the Swindon area.

Do I need to live in Swindon to register?

If you and the person you care for both reside in Swindon, you can access all services offered by Swindon Carers Centre. If one of you lives in Swindon while the other does not, your access to services will be limited. In this case, please reach out to one of our Support Practitioners for more information. If neither of you lives in Swindon, we are unable to register you, but we can direct you to another service available in your area.

Will registering cost me anything?

No, registering as an unpaid carer with Swindon Carers Centre is completely free.
