Liaise with educational institutions
Our team collaborates with schools and colleges across Swindon to ensure generalised and individual support is established for young carers in education.
Young carers carry responsibilities far beyond their years, often sacrificing their childhood and missing out on the carefree moments of youth. At Swindon Carers Centre, we recognise the unique challenges young carers face and are dedicated to offering the support they need to succeed.
Caring for a loved one can be emotionally and physically overwhelming for a young carer - impacting their education, social life, and overall well-being during key developmental years. Our team is here to support young carers by providing respite from their caring responsibilities, encouraging them to prioritise their well-being, and connecting them with community services. We aim to create space for their personal growth, enjoyment and future aspirations.
Our compassionate team takes the time to listen and understand each carer’s unique situation, offering a safe and welcoming space to decompress, share their experiences, and access opportunities for personal growth and enjoyment.
Our approach involves a clear, supportive process:
Our team collaborates with schools and colleges across Swindon to ensure generalised and individual support is established for young carers in education.
Once you are registered as a carer, you can join the community and meet other young carers at our activities, workshops and groups.
We offer compassionate bereavement support to help young carers have familiarity whilst adjusting to life after caring.
If our team cannot support you with your caring needs, we will put you in contact with someone who can.
Swindon Carers Centre supports young carers in their education by providing practical resources and funding to help them succeed. We understand that young carers often face challenges that can impact their learning, so we work to remove barriers, providing tailored support to help them stay engaged and reach their academic potential.
Swindon Carers Centre partners with local authorities and businesses to identify young carers through training, resources, and support. We help schools recognise caring signs and provide guidance on supporting young carers. In collaboration with local authorities, we ensure access to essential services and community programmes. By engaging local businesses through campaigns and events, we promote workplace flexibility and increased support. These efforts create a comprehensive, community-wide approach to assisting and empowering young carers.
