Welfare and Benefits

We understand the financial struggles that carers face and offer a holistic package of support which includes benefit checks, form filling and signposting to online self help guides.

Our Welfare and Benefits Service specialises in benefits which carers and their dependants might be entitled to and is open to anyone over 18.

Due to the impact of the cost-of-living crisis our Benefits Service has a waiting list. However, to check what you might be entitled to, you can use the benefits calculator and further links below.

Benefits calculators

From the three benefit calculators the Government recommend, we have used and can recommend the following;

https://www.entitledto.co.uk/

https://www.gov.uk/benefits-calculators

To get a more accurate answer, you’ll need correct information about your savings, income, pension, childcare payments and any existing benefits for you and your partner, if you have one.

This will give you an estimate of:

  • the benefits you could get.
  • how much your benefit payments could be.
  • how your benefits will be affected if you start work or increase your hours
  • how your benefits will be affected if your circumstances change – for example, if you have a child or move in with your partner

These online tools are not suitable for everyone. Special rules apply to some groups of people, for example students, people under 18, people in permanent residential care, UK nationals who live abroad and people who are not British or Irish citizens.

If you belong to one of the groups listed above, it would be best if you contact Citizens Advice for help in this matter. https://www.citizensadviceswindon.org.uk/contact-form/

The benefits calculator does not make any claims for you.

Therefore, you will need to make the actual benefit claims yourself. If you need assistance making a benefits claim, please let us know and one of the team will contact you as soon as we can to discuss options.
